Seagull Chicks

If you have wondered why your local gulls are more aggressive than usual at the moment, here is the answer.
This nest is in the middle of a site cleared for redevelopment which is surrounded by a high fence so the birds had no humans to drive away.
However if you have an apartment on the top floor of the building, and the gulls are nesting on your roof, then your balcony will continue to be a no go area until the chicks have left the nest.

Another room with a view

The view from a gallery window at the Final Degree Show in the Royal William Yard.

Life size white resin cattle on the lawn.

I think they get moved around regularly.

I came across some more colourful ones in Singapore a couple of years ago.

Welcome to Plymouth ....

......and on a wet and windy Sunday in June you're welcome to it. At least you'll have it to yourself

Monday 13 June 2011

Be careful what you wish for.

Yesterday, when I hoped for rain, I had in mind a gentle shower or two to green the grass and perk up the flowers.

But we got torrential rain and a howling gale.

I spotted this solitary figure battling against the wind and rain, as she crossed the Promenade on Plymouth Hoe.

I hope it rains today

Rain is forecast for today.

I took this picture yesterday and you can see, from the parched grass, how much we need it.
