"And the ship sailed on"

Last night I watched the 1983 Fellini movie "E la nave va",

 set in 1914, it follows a group who leave Naples, on a luxury liner,

to scatter the ashes of a famous opera singer.

A couple of months ago I sailed on a wonderful Italian cruise ship

 and it occurs to me that essentially not much has changed in the last hundred years or so.
