Two out of Three

Plymouth has three lighthouses, this picture shows two of them.
On the left, there is the one at the right hand end of the Breakwater, about 2.5 miles from the shore.
On the right of the far horizon, is The Eddystone Lighthouse, about 13.5 miles from the city.

If you look closely to the right of  Eddystone Lighthouse you will see a small stump.
On this stump once sat the lighthouse pictured below.

This is the third lighthouse, which once sat on the treacherous Eddystone Rocks, warning mariners.
However in the early 1880s the rocks upon which it was built began to exhibit signs of instability,
so it was decided to dismantle the tower, stone by stone, and re-erect it on Plymouth Hoe,
where it stands today at 72 feet. and is open to the public.

And this is what it looks  like from a boat in Plymouth Sound.
