At 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11 month in 1918

Today is Remembrance Day to honour the dead of  the First World War 1914 to 1918.

It marks the time, the day and the month of the signing of the Armistice which brought brought to and end "The war to end all wars."

Remembrance Sunday is this coming Sunday, when the fallen in that war, the Second World War and subsequent conflicts are remembered, with Church Services and ceremonies at War Memorials  throughout the UK.

Memorials come in all shapes and sizes and Plymouth Hoe, which looks out over Plymouth Sound, is home to a very large and impressive collection of memorials, and therefore is the natural venue for the city's large, formal acts of remembrance.

But in many of the small towns and villages, which over the centuries have become "suburbs" of the city,  memorials still play and important part in the life of the community.
These pictures show the Garden of Remembrance in Saltash, where the road and rail bridges join Plymouth to Cornwall.

I think this video clip offers a fitting soundtrack for an Act of Remembrance
