This recently built, combined Combined Heat and Power facility is now in the final stages of commissioning with waste being fed continuously into the boiler and the plant generating electricity.
Already in these first days of operation more than
77,000 tonnes of waste have been diverted from landfill.
The plant is located in the North Yard of the Devonport Naval base from which it will supply cost effective heating and electricity to the Naval Base, and potentially, in future, an extended heating network for the local area.
