Pop up allotments.

What a very good idea.
I came across several of these recently in Devonport Park.

Saturday in Devonport Park

Plymouth is a very hilly city and Devonport Park stands on high ground
looking down on the Naval Dockyard, which runs along the bank of the River Tamar.
Saturday was a superb Spring day and there are few better places for a stroll in the sunshine
than Devonport Park.

Saturday in Devonport Park

On Saturday the temperature in Plymouth
was the same as the temperature in Barcelona,
18°C

A very rare occurrence,

a whole day without rain!

So far in 2016 we have seen the all time rainfall records broken for January
and with no sign of improvement so far in February.

Autumn pruning,

in one of the less frequented corners of Devonport Park.
produced a few surprises.

Sunday in the park

It was beautiful Spring day in Devonport Park.

Over recent years this city park has been rescued from the doldrums by an imaginative team of professionals and dedicated amateurs, to become one of the city's best loved "family parks".

There are vibrant activity areas for youngsters and quiet spots like this.

Art in the park.

I came across this seat as I walked through Devonport Park yesterday.

The subject matter of this carving has particular relevance to Plymouth
after the massive destruction suffered during World War Two.

Devonport Park is beautiful in all seasons of the year.

The Happy Couple

We have had a fortnight of very unsettled weather, very brief sunny periods punctuated with heavy, blustery showers.

But after a gloomy, damp start, Saturday afternoon was beautifully sunny.

The timing couldn't have been better for this couple.

The location is the Memorial Garden,  in Devonport Park.

I was passing by, and stopped to see the professionals at work.
