Winter Storm "Dennis" is due to hit us today

bringing with it very heavy rain and winds up to 70 mph.

Plymouth Waterfront will probably look like this impressionistic painting, by Yannick Tonnelier,
of storm "Ciara" which hit us last week.

Here is the hour by hour forecast for today from the Meteorological Office.

Waiting for a break in the bad weather.

This is the Brittany Ferries vessel MV Cap Finisterre safe at her berth in Millbay Docks, Plymouth.

The recent, seemingly endless procession of storms rolling in from the Atlantic, has caused a higher than normal number of cancellations and late arrivals of services on their network of routes,
which link many ports in Britain, Ireland, France and Spain.

Looking towards Plymouth Sound

Plymouth is very hilly, so many houses in crowded city areas have a seaview.
From the comfort of a cosy room you can watch the winter weather.

An Amber Weather Warning is in force for the city today.

We are to expect heavy snow, not only on the high ground of Dartmoor, but also down here at sea level.

As you can see there are some people who welcome challenging weather.
