Remembrance of things past

Along with Marcel Proust's character Charles Swann, in "À la recherche du temps perdue".
certain things trigger episodes of  'Involuntary Memory'.
In Swann's case it was the famous madeleine cake episode.
For me it was the sight of these scooters. I was immediately transported back to 1960,
when I acquired my first Lambretta.

Back in the day,

in 1961 to be exact, I owned a Lambretta TV 175.
It was exactly like this one except for all the mirrors. My scooter only had two.

Even to this day, of all the vehicles I have owned since, this is the one I remember most fondly.

They don't make them like they used to.

A few days ago, the sight of this lovely Lambretta scooter turned back the years, to the summer of 1961.
A scooter like this, was the first motorised transport I owned.
I bought with savings from a summer vacation job when I was a student.
Together with my friends, scooters opened a new stage of independence in our lives.
