Plymouth has hundreds of marina berths, with major developments approved to greatly increase that number.
Berths can cost around £400 per metre per year, so boating isn't a cheap hobby.
But fortunately there are still a few places which don't require a banker's bonus to keep your boat afloat.
Where the rivers Plym and Tamar enter Plymouth Sound there are still a few quiet tidal harbours, small beaches with public access, and sheltered creeks, where local families can still just about afford to enjoy
messing about in boats.
