The city's history has always been bound up with "the Queen's Navy", 
thus, in times of war, Plymouth has always had to be sure its defences 
were strong enough to deal with attacks from the sea. 






These canons, situated on the waterfront, at the base of The Royal Citadel, together with those on the Tower across at Mount Batten, could control access to the Harbour in the Barbican area of the town.

Visit tomorrow and climb up to the Mount Batten Tower.
