On Wednesday evening, as I was returning home from a short visit to France, I had a closer than usual view of the sailing races as the Brittany Ferries ship Amorique arced across Plymouth Sound on its way to the Ferry Port at Millbay Docks on Plymouth's Waterfront.
Since I was stood at the stern, it came as a surprise when two fleets of racers, going in opposite directions, crossed our wake very closer under the stern. Obviously we had presented an additional factor to their race strategy as we sailed across their course.
Order and calm were soon restored.
