The Torpoint Ferry

This ferry runs to and fro  across the River Tamar, 24/7 everyday of the year,
linking England to Cornwall.

From their slipway on the Devonport bank, in the heart of the Naval Dockyard,
the ferries pick up the fixed chains and pull themselves across the river.
In the background, behind the ferry is the Frigate Complex,
where the Plymouth based frigates are maintained.
The ship in the background F231, is HMS Argyll

This Google Earth image shows the Devonport - Torpoint ferry crossing
and the extent of the Devonport Naval Base, the largest such base in Europe.
