Another colourful, calm, winter sunrise and I was looking down the River Tamar, into Plymouth Sound, over the buildings on the shore, out past the Breakwater and on to The Mew Stone, at the eastern end of The Sound, off Wembury Bay.
It is, of course, not always so tranquil around the Mew Stone.
This is a watercolour made c.1814 by JMW Turner (1777 - 1851) entitled
"A ship against The Mew Stone at the entrance to Plymouth Sound."
