In port for the weekend.

This quiet scene will change dramatically early on Monday morning

Trawlers moored at the Fish Market

Plymouth Fisheries in Sutton Harbour is home to England's second largest fish market.
A few months ago, in November 2017, Plymouth Fish market recorded its first £1,000,000 week.

Earlier this month proposed plans, by property developers, to build residential units on the site were abandoned which is good news for the fishing industry in the city.

Alongside for Christmas

There is not much room left for any vessels still at sea,
as the fishing fleet ties up along the quays and pontoons at the Fish market,
ready for the Christmas break.

Provider

This fine vessel, moored at the Fish market in Plymouth,
is a long way from her original port of registration, Coleraine, in Northern Ireland.

Sutton Harbour

Amid all the floating, white plastic, gin palaces in the marina,
there is still a vibrant community of working boats of all ages.

A perfect winter day.
Not a breath of wind, not a cloud in the sky, air temperature 0° C.

Crowded Fish Quays

It is very unusual to see so many trawlers tied up in port.
I'm pretty sure they were not stormbound, so I suspect that they are once again trapped
in port by European Fishing Quota regulations.

When the seagulls follow the trawler ........

...... it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.
