We have had more colourful morning and evening skies this Autumn, than I ever remember.

Indian Summer

The current period of splendid, autumn weather has produced the some stunning early mornings.

Even industrial structures look better in the golden glow.

Sunrise over Southampton

We returned yesterday from a short cruise around some of the major North Sea ports.

Starting and finishing in Southampton we visited Hamburg, Amsterdam, Zeebrugge, and Le Havre. 

Docking at dawn, this was the view from our cabin balcony. 

 

Early one morning, just as the sun was rising,

I heard a maiden singing

 in the valley below.

This could end in an Icarus moment.

These two are in danger of flying too close to the Sun.

Dawn,

and the first of the "Red Eye" flights pass over the city as they near the end of their long haul flights.

Out of the blue.

How inappropriate to call this planet Earth

When it is clearly Ocean.

Winter Solstice

The moment of the mid winter day sunrise on a lonely Dartmoor road.

Yesterday was Mid Winter Day.

The shortest day of the year.

But importantly we are on our way to Spring.
