With Plymouth Sound, the superb coastline of Devon and Cornwall, and the extensive river system of the Plym, theTamar, the Tavy and the Lynher, this area offers unlimited water sports opportunities.

This group are just setting out into Plymouth Sound from the Mountbatten Watersports Centre.

A Simple Recipe, but Dangerous.

                                                    3. Grill, on highest setting, for two hours

                                                    4. Turn over and repeat process on the other side

On this open space in the centre of the city,

a group of fitness enthusiasts warm up and stretch 

before starting their full exercise regime in earnest.

There is a difference between ....

.... being cool  

and trying not to sweat too much.

This dog was reluctant about swimming at first.

But then the problem became getting it out.

Beat the heat

As the temperature yesterday morning was on its way up to 30ºC,

many people decided that The Tinside Lido was the best place to be.

This is merely the head of a very long queue waiting for the 11 o'clock opening time.

There could be quite a rush for some of the prime positions by the poolside.

Morning and Evening

Sailing across Plymouth Sound, on the way out to sea, early on a beautiful summer morning.

Coming back across the Sound that evening as the sun goes down.

It's Pimms o'clock.

Our current heat wave has probably done wonders for the sale of Pimms.

The barman is busily mixing up jugs of Pimms for the early arrivals 

at what looks like a Wedding Reception at Tinside.

To boldly go.

These intrepid "Wild Swimmers" are heading for the cave entrance at the foot of this cliff,
on the foreshore at Tinside, on Plymouth Hoe.

It has been so long .......

 ............ since we've had weather like this,

that there are young people who have never seen 

an umbrella used as a parasol.

We're having a heatwave. It started last Friday.

It didn't take long for the water to become more inviting.

So we were here, on the high ground, and ........

Our visit to the Wildside Garden was in continual rain, under a featureless grey sky,

but the naturalistic planting makes this a beautiful and romantic place in any weather.
