Have you ever managed to find

a table that does not wobble when stood on a cobbled quayside?

I would advise that you don't order the soup.

The House of Grill Repute

As concern over global warming increases,
attacks on the canivore diet come thick and fast.
I fear that my favourite Steak Joint, will be under pressure to move to Tofu.

How do you create a pavement restaurant on a very steep hill?

Here is one solution that I came across in Vigo, on the Atlantic coast of Spain.
It is at the top of a very steep hill leading down to harbour.
It needs excellent anchorage to ensure that, when fully loaded with diners,
it doesn't break free and set off at high speed down the hill.

Lunch on the Waterfront

This is the terrace of the popular Spanish restaurant El Maritimo,
overlooking Plymouth Sound, at the western end of the Waterfront.

Last Thursday was National Burger Day,

and HUBBOX offered a free burger to each of the first 250 customers from noon onwards.

By noon the queue wound around the corner and way down that street.
It was quite surprising  to see how long, an apparently well nourished crowd,
were prepared to queue for a free burger.

A genuine taste of Turkey

in a narrow, cobbled street dating back to the 16th century,
in the Barbican area of the Waterfront.

Now, here is somewhere that is .....

... guaranteed to improve your mood
on yet another gloomy, wet, July day.

This recently opened Gelateria, in the Barbican area of the Waterfront,
continues the traditions of the Valenti family, who have been delighting
Plymouth's ice cream lovers since 1912.

Cafe Rouge

The Plymouth outlet of the Cafe Rouge chain closed its doors for the last time over a year ago.
But on a damp and blustery January day, if you half close your eyes,
this corner of Whimple Street can seem like Paris of late nineteenth century.

An interesting addition to the menu?

I was intrigued by the chalk board outside this restaurant.
Did they mean LUNCH
or is a new dining experience?

Vive la difference! (1)

It is not only the ferry crossing that separates Plymouth and Roscoff.
The tastes in seafood are very different.

La Belle Époque à la Belle Étoile

On a balmy evening in Roscoff, in France, last week,
you only had to half close your eyes to turn back time 120 years.
